– First Time –
I am always looking for different and new sports to photograph. Challenging myself, whether or not I have ever played that particular sport, is a great way to improve my skills. Other benefits include getting to know my equipment better and meeting new people such as other photographers, coaches, athletes, and the fans. I have decided to photograph track and field for the first time. Yes, even though I do have track and field experience, I have no idea what I am doing. However, I did a bunch of research as a starting point to help guide me in the general direction.
– Isidora Jiménez –
I met Isidora Jiménez!!! Who is she? Isidora is a Chilean track athlete specializing in the 200m and 400m sprints as well as relay races. She has completed in many national and international events such as the South American Games, South American Championships, Ibero-American Championships, and the Bolivarian Games. Isidora also qualified for the summer Olympics for the first time and competed in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
– Oscar Badillo –
Speaking of meeting other photographers, I saw the well know Oscar Badillo for the first time. I recognized him right away. However, I was intimidated to actually go up and talk to him because I have seen his work. He specializes in track and field photography. I only hope to have an opportunity to chat with him in the future.
– Photo Results –
As to be expected, the results were not great for my first time photographing track and field. After all, that is the whole purpose of trying something out of my comfort zone. I am sure to improve with time and practice. Therefore, I have several other competitions planned throughout the year. I look sharing my experience with you.
