Pro Rugby Evolves for 2023 Competition

The Superliga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) in South America is taking the league to a new level with the addition of several new teams for the 2023 series. As pro rugby evolves, so will the caliber of the players, coaches, and referees. SLAR will now be known as Super Rugby Americas (SRA). According to SLAR and Sudamérica Rugby (SAR), the 2023 season will start on February 18th soon after the conclusion of the biggest 7s rugby tournament in South America, 7s Viña.

Super Rugby Americas will consist of six teams from South America and one from North America for a total of seven teams. Peñarol Rugby from Uruguay defeated Selknam from Chile in the 2022 SLAR Championships. Both teams along with Cobras Brasil XV will be continuing on with Super Rugby Americas. The American Raptors from the Unites States will also be joining the league. Games will be played in seven locations in six countries. The season will comprise of 42 regular season games with a semifinal match leading to a grand final showdown on June 9, 2023. All games will be televised by ESPN and Star+.
